این بخش در سال 1383 در دانشگاه شریف تاسیس گردید و به دلیل
فعالیتهای علمی گوناگون رتبه نخست را در جهان درماه ژانویه 2006 به خود
اختصاص داد. در حال حاضر تعداد اعضا به بیش از 120 عضو می رسد. از فعالیتهای این
بخش می توان به برگزاری 5 کارگاه آموزشی در سال اخیر، کارگاه های آموزشی متدهای
هوشمند، و همچنین برگزاری کلاسهای آموزش نرم افزارهای تخصصی با حضور اساتید داخل و
خارج از کشور اشاره کرد. در حال حاضر ریاست این بخشبر عهده جناب آقای ایمان نجفی می باشد.

1-Introduction meeting for summer programs
New main members of SPE chapter at Sharif University of Technology (SUT) began
their programs this summer. First of all it was necessary for students to be
informed about summer educational programs. Therefore “an introduction to SPE
programs” meeting was held in June 2009. Dr. kharrat, the President of Iran
Section SPE, Dr. Rashtchian, the chairman of chemical and petroleum engineering
department of Sharif University of Technology and Dr. Goodarznia, the former
Petroleum committee manager of Sharif U of
Tech were the special guests of this meeting who each of them had a 10
minutes speech. Dr. Kharrat also had a presentation about the SPE and the
activities that a section could have, after that Iman Najafi, the new president
of SUT SPE chapter declared the summer programs of SPE and at last the
participants of this meeting were directed to the hall and served with the
beverage and cake while they were asking questions from SPE chapter directing
board.

2-Workshops establishment:
After the introduction meeting with the
students and faculty, several meeting has been held to determine essential
workshops for summer term. Finally the plan has been drawn (list of workshops
and their specifications are presented in the Table 1). Some poster were
prepared and sent to all other SPE chapters in

4-Distinguished lecture (1) (Dec 2009):
Ali Abbasi Goudarzi presented first distinguished lecture entitled “An
introduction to optimization problems and solving them using Genetic Algorithms
(GA)”. This presentation was hold in
Aban month and the following subject was
explained:
5-Distinguished lecture (2)(Feb 10):
Dr. Taghikhani’s lecture was about problems in production’s pipes. The
main focus was on “pigs and slug”.
6-Distinguished lecture (3) (May 18):
Professor Polladi Darvish was the gust of
the third lecture. This meeting had
three parts.
In the first part “Hydrate Reservoirs” was introduced as a new challenge in
petroleum engineering. In the second

7-Distinguished lecture (4) (May 22):
Dr. Meysam Nourani, graduate student of
8-Simulation Software workshops ( May
22 to Jun 8):
The workshop was held
by Mr. Samad Abdi. The main software used in the workshop was Eclipse and
sixteen students attend this program.
9-Planning for a
field trip to
SPE chapter
connection with other students’ scientific societies was another superiority of
SPE in comparison with other student group in the university. With this regard
the SPE can arrange a field trip in

11-Founding EAGE chapter in
European association
of geosciences engineering is a universal society like SPE and recently student
branches are spread worldwide. Science the geosciences is an important matter in
petroleum engineering, the SPE decided to inaugurate the EAGE chapter in
12-Planning for summer courses
After one year
experiences in holding educational programs and by the assist of SPE members, SPE student chapter
are going to hold thorough software courses related to chemical and petroleum
engineering. Each course that has more than fifteen enrolled students will be
held in summer. There are 18 courses
planned for summer.
13-Prizes award to the SPE student contest
winners (June 10)
SPE has a great honor that all of the
winners in three division of SPE contest were the member of Sharif University
SPE chapter and to the winners was awarded by this group to encourage further
researches in the university.
