این بخش در سال 1385 شروع به فعالیت نموده و در سال1386 با تعداد بیش از 50عضو کارشناسی و 25 عضو کارشناسی ارشد
به ثبت رسیده است. از فعالیتهای این شعبه می توان بهبرگزاری 3 کارگاه آموزشی در حوضه
مباحث بالادستی نفت در سال 1386، راه اندازی کتابخانه الکترونیکی
(elibrary) در سال
1387، و همچنین حضور در کنفرانس (ADIPEC)در
سال 2008اشاره کرد. ریاست این بخش درحال حاضر بر عهده جناب آقای توسلی میباشد.
